Oshawa Skating Club

A history of Success and a Future of Excellence

Our Figure Skating programs works within Skate Canada’s LTAD (Long Term Athlete Development) program.  In addition to regular sessions, the Oshawa Skating Club also offers group lessons, skater development, and off ice training to complement skaters' training.  Figure skates are required for all sessions, as well as a private coach.

Private lesson fees are in addition to ice fees and are negotiated between you and your Professional Coach.

Session Qualification

The Oshawa Skating Club has ice sessions divided by levels A through D. The above chart outlines the tests that skaters need to have passed in order to register to skate in a particular session.

Skater Development Sessions

This Coach instructed session will include different topics each week– spins, jumps, dance, skills, field movements, edge/turn, simulations, music theatre, or any topic the Coach team feels a need to emphasize.

Off Ice Training

These conditioning classes will combine a mixture of cardio, strengthening and stretching exercises designed to challenge each skater's balance and spatial awareness.  As skaters progress they will learn to engage their core muscles more actively in order to achieve greater stability and mobility.  Special attention to the line of the arms and hands will help develop the finishing touches needed in performance.
